Frances J. (Kitko) Neff, 100, formerly of Irvona, died on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014 at Christ the King Manor in DuBois where she resided for the past 10 years.
Born Oct. 23, 1913 in Madera, she was the daughter of Paul M. and Mary K. (Gura) Kitko. On Sept. 25, 1933, she wed Robert Neff Jr. in St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Houtzdale.
Mr. and Mrs. Neff owned and operated Neff’s Grocery and General Store in Irvona.
She was a member of Christ the King Church, Houtzdale, the church Altar and Rosary Society and the St. Victoria’s Court No. 636, Houtzdale, for more than 50 years.
Mrs. Neff enjoyed collecting coins, crocheting afghans and working in a dear friend’s jewelry store.
She’s survived by a son, Robert F. Neff (Loretta Bain Neff) of Temecula, Calif. and a daughter, Beverly Toner (Willard “Bud” Toner) of Youngstown, NY
She’s survived by six grandchildren, Gary Neff, Greg Neff, Benny Neff, Jackie Neff McCune, Jeffrey Toner and Sharon Danielson and eight great-grandchildren, Jake McCune, Jeff Toner, Robert Toner, Clarissa Toner, David Toner, Scott Danielson, Kevin Danielson and Sean Danielson; and a great-great-granddaughter, Realyn Danielson. She’s also survived by one sister, Pauline Unch of Burbank, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Neff is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert, whom died June 13, 2001; one grandson, Michael Neff; three sisters; and four brothers.
Friends will be received from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Kruise Funeral Homes Inc., Madera.
The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Victoria’s Court No. 646, will stand as honor guard at the church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ the King Church, Houtzdale. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Cemetery, Madera.
