Carol Ann Belin, 79, a resident of Clearfield, died Friday, Feb. 27 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born Oct. 5, 1935 in Fremont, NC, she was the daughter of Richard Joseph and Lutoria (Davis) Edmundson.

She attended Women’s College of the University of North Carolina and graduated in 1957 from Atlantic Christian College of Wilson, NC.

After she graduated, she taught at Camp Lejeune Elementary School, where she met Carl A. Belin Jr. of Clearfield. On Nov. 29, 1958, they married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Goldsboro, NC.

She was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Clearfield.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Carl A. Belin Jr., and her six daughters, Barbara (David) Fawns of Treasure Lake; Beth (Mark) Franco of Blythewood, SC; Susan (Robert) Newell of Coronado, Calif.; Caroline (Edward) Murn of McLean, Va.; Cynthia (James) Foley of Allison Park; and Margaret (David) Temeles of Annandale, Va.  She is also survived by 22 adoring grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving brother, Richard Irving Edmundson and sister, Ella Olivia Nevins.

She dedicated her life to her family and her community. In addition to raising six daughters, she served on Clearfield Borough Council as the finance chairperson for 12 years, the Children’s Aid Society and the Clearfield Hospital Auxiliary; she also volunteered for various committees at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Clearfield, with Father John L. Miller and Monsignor Henry Krebs as celebrants. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Thursday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Clearfield Education Fund, Belin Scholarship, in care of Vicki Meyers, 11 N. Second St., Clearfield PA; the St. Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 S. Front St., Clearfield PA; or to the charity of donor’s choice.
