Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for Andrew C. Petkac, 93, of Grassflat at 11 a.m. Friday at the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Grassflat, with Father David A. Perry as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m. Friday at the Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Grassflat.
Mr. Petkac died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016 at Penn Highlands Clearfield in Clearfield.
Born Dec. 15, 1922, in Grassflat, he was a son of the late Andrew G. and Anna (Mraz) Petkac.
He was a 1940 graduate of Cooper Township High School. He worked as a supervisor of housing for Pollock and Nittany Residence Halls at Penn State for 30 years.
Mr. Petkac was a life-long member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, the Jednota First Catholic Slovak Union and Loyal Order of Moose, all in Grassflat.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a member of the Gorton Gun Club.
A Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) member working near Penfield in the 1930s, Mr. Petkac was a U.S Army veteran of World War II, serving in North Africa, Sicily and Italy.
He was honorably discharged Dec. 11, 1945, and he received the Good Conduct Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anna (Danko) Petkac; three sons, Andrew J. Petkac and his wife, Charlene and Michael J. Petkac, both of State College, and John S. Petkac of Grassflat; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Anne Buranovsky and Mary Urban; two brothers, Joseph and his twin brother, John; an infant daughter, Mary Petkac; and a granddaughter, Rachel Petkac. He is the last of his generation.
There will be no public visitation, but the public is invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday.
