Obituary Notice: David Francis McAllister Sr.

David Francis McAllister Sr., 78, Treasure Lake, DuBois, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016 at his home.

Born April 7, 1937 in West Roxbury, Mass., he was the son of the late George E. and Ruth (Marsh) McAllister.

On Sept. 9, 1967 in St. Matthews Church in Dorchester, Mass., he married Patricia C. McAllister.  She survives.

He retired as the president and owner of D.F. McAllister Associates in DuBois after more than 20 years of service.  Prior to that, he was the director of marketing and safety at Butler Trucking and Coastal Tanklines.

He was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church.  He was the founder and past president of Patrick Healy Chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in DuBois.

He also was president of Canadian-American Motor Transportation Association, president of AOH Chapters in Watertown, Mass., and Akron, Ohio, where he started the Akron St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 519 and the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Assembly 2661, both in DuBois.

He was a past member of the Treasure Lake Lions Club, the Rotary Club International in Massachusetts and the Olympic Athletic Club.

He was an avid golfer and Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.  He loved to travel, but most of all, he loved being with his family.

He is survived by three children, Karen McAllister of Lowell, Mass., and Debra West and her husband, Daniel and David McAllister Jr. and his wife, Tracey, both of DuBois, and 10 grandchildren, Jay, Sonia, McKayla, Caitlin, Sean, Nicole, Scotty, Cullen, Connor and Madison.

He was preceded in death by his brother, George McAllister and an infant sister.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.

A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The Rosary will be prayed at 7:45 p.m. Sunday by the members of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 519 and Assembly 2661.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Fachtna O’Driscoll, SMA and Msgr. Richard Siefer co-celebrating.

Burial will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to Penn Highlands Hospice, 100 Hospital Ave., and or St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 116 S. State St., both in DuBois, PA 15801.
