Cecil Conklin, 79, of Morrisdale died Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.
Born May 14, 1936 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Marvin and Della Hughes Conklin.
Mr. Conklin was a member of the St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Morrisdale.
He was a life member of the Holy Family Council, Knights of Columbus, No. 8701, Morrisdale.
He was co-owner of Virginia Conklin Window Fashions and owner of Cecil Conklin Upholstery. Mr. Conklin was a 1955 graduate of the Philipsburg High School.
He was also a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America, Local No. 950, of the Western PA Teamsters Union, the Carpathian Pinochle Club and Emporium Golf Club.
He was a life member of the Morris Township Volunteer Fire Company, Morrisdale, and the Elks No. 1173 of Philipsburg. He was also well-known to the children in the area as Santa Claus.
He was married to Virginia Cantolina Conklin on July 16, 1955 at the St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Morrisdale. She survives in Morrisdale.
Mr. Conklin is survived by three daughters, Toni Ross and her husband, Milton and Kim Sones and her husband, Bryan, both of Lanse, and Sherry Yontosh and her husband, Tom of Morrisdale and a son-in-law, George Stratton of Morrisdale.
He is survived by his seven grandchildren, Aaron Roos, Michelle Roos Malik, Kevin Yontosh, Krista Yontosh Cimino, Rachael Stratton, Sara Sones and Michael Sones; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by three sisters, Marlene Conklin Hartshorne of Allentown, Ella Conklin Lewis of Pittsburgh and Della Conklin Wood of Philipsburg and a brother, Gary Conklin of Philipsburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Deanna Stratton and three brothers, Robert, Marvin Jr. and Kenneth Conklin.
A Mass of Christian Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Morrisdale, with the Father Robert J. Horgas as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Agnes Roman Catholic Cemetery, Morrisdale.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Home, Morrisdale. The Rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
