Obituary Notice: Esther M. Sallack

Esther M.  Sallack, 102, formerly of Home Camp and Johnsonburg, died Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the DuBois Nursing Home.

Born Sept. 6, 1913 in Weedville, she was the daughter of the late Rex and Lena (Brown) Gray.

On June 9, 1932, in Johnsonburg, she married Harry Alvan Sallack, who preceded her in death on March 25, 2005.

Mrs. Sallack was a homemaker. She was a member of both the Home Camp United Methodist Church and the First United Methodist Church in Johnsonburg.

She was a past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She also enjoyed knitting and sewing.

She is survived by two sons, A. Eugene Sallack and his wife, Donna of Johnsonburg and Oren L. Sallack and his wife, Sally of Punxsutawney; a sister, Mildred of Illinois; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and four step-great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Charmaine LaRock; a brother, Rex Gray, who was Killed in action in World War II; and three sisters, Florence Taylor, Ruth Beck and Virginia Haldeman.

Friends will be received from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Monday at the Goble- Baronick Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Howe officiating.

Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Johnsonburg First United Methodist Church, 5 Clarion Rd., Johnsonburg, PA 15845.
