Paul Wesley Williams, 92, of West Decatur died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016 at Epworth Manor, Tyrone.

Born Sept. 4, 1924 in Wallaceton, he was a son of the late Raymond and Mabel (Fuge) Williams.

He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, West Decatur.  In the past, he served as a trustee, and he was Sunday school superintendent for many years.

Mr. Williams was also a member of the Centre Hill Grange and the Mock’s Hill Cemetery Association Board.

He was a former cub master and assistant cub master of Cub Scout Pack 43 in West Decatur. He served on the committee to organize the Blue Ball Centennial in 1964.

He was a 1942 graduate of the Clearfield High School. He enjoyed driving his car and traveling. He never went without his hat.

During World War II, he served his country and earned veteran’s status as a member of the Merchant Marines.  He made 11 voyages on the Atlantic Ocean guarding merchant ships.

He worked for several coal companies and was a dragline operator.  He worked as a machinist at Piper Aircraft in Quehanna and was a Boggs Township Supervisor for almost 15 years.  Mr. Williams then worked as a foreman for PennDOT and retired in 1990.

On Aug. 11, 1949 in Winchester, Va., he married Betty June Mease, who preceded him in death on Feb. 14, 2006.

He is survived by three children, Georgia Litz and her husband, John and Denise Minarchick and her husband, Greg, all of West Decatur and Rodger Williams and his wife, Debbie of Morrisdale.

He is survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, David Minarchick and his wife, Danielle and their children, Alex Wilkinson and Bella Minarchick; Nicholas Minarchick and his wife, Keila and their children, Hannah and Peyton; Paul Williams and his wife, Chrissy and their children, Makayla and Brooklyn, all of West Decatur; Nathan Minarchick and his wife, Valerie of Denver, Colo.; Lisa (Williams) Sanders and her husband, Brian and their children, Lilly, Sara and Bella of Fairview, Pa.; and Mary Beth Quick and her children, Emily, Eric, and Ethan of Philipsburg.

He was the last of his generation. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Williams was preceded in death by a daughter, Clara Jane Williams of West Decatur; two brothers, Harold Williams and Charles Williams; and two sisters, Virginia Stegner and Barbara Faller.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 25 at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St., Philipsburg, with Pastor Anna Fyock officiating.

Military honors will be conducted at the funeral home by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard. Burial will be at Mock’s Hill Cemetery, West Decatur.

Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sept. 24 and from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. Sept. 25 at the funeral home.
