Robert A. “Bob” Shively, 77, of Clearfield died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016 at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. Born Nov. 7, 1938, he was the son of Lester and Amy Pearl (Mitchell) Shively.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was employed for 36 years with IBEW Local 222 as a linemen.
He was a member of the St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Clearfield.
He was also a member of the Clearfield American Legion Post 6, B.P.O.E. No. 540 and Sparkling Springs Hunting and Fishing Camp.
On July 16, 1966 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, he wed Joan Salter, who survives, along with six children, Blair Shively and his wife, Melissa of Loxahatchee, Fla., Lea Massimino and her husband, Richard, Keith Shively and Chet Shively, all of Clearfield, Joanie Barr and her husband, Alan of Robinson Township, Pittsburgh, and Lester Shively of Bellefonte.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Jessica, Krista, Emily, Richard III, Kylie, Nina, Alyssa, Cole, Keira, Tyler, Logan, Mika and Madden; six brothers and sisters, John Shively of Bloomsburg, Thomas Shively and his wife, Joanne of Big Run, Sue Lloyd and her husband, Dave of Arizona, Mary Jo Byers of Clearfield, Clara Verez and her husband, Tom of Morrisdale and Toby Shively and his wife, Mary of Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Max Shively.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Clearfield, with Father John Miller as celebrant.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield.
A Scripture Vigil Service will be said at 1:45 p.m. and the Rosary will be recited by members of St. Francis Altar and Rosary Society at 5:45 p.m., both Wednesday at the funeral home
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the St. Francis Education Endowment Fund, 212 S. Front St., Clearfield, PA 16830.
