Edward R. Smith, 68, of the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home in Hollidaysburg and formerly of Osceola Mills, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2016 at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home in Hollidaysburg.
Born July 28, 1948 in Philipsburg, he was the son of Esther M. (Hughes) Smith of Philipsburg and the late John E. Smith.
He was married to Julie (Perks) Smith, who preceded him in death May 28, 1987.
Mr. Smith was of the Christian faith and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from L. S. Fiore Inc. in Altoona.
He was a 1966 graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola Mills High School and a member of the VFW Post No. 5020 in Osceola Mills.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one sister, Ressa J. Owens and her husband, Stanley of Beech Creek, Pa.; two brothers, Benjamin G. Smith and his wife, Michelle and John M. Smith and his wife, Cathy, all of Osceola Mills; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. William Murphy officiating. Burial will be at the Centre Cemetery in Osceola Mills.
There will be no public visitation.
Military honors will be accorded by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard.
