Irene Peterson, 99, of DuBois died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born May 13, 1917, she was the daughter of the late William and Valeria (Cairns) Tatters.
She was married to Russell H. Peterson. He preceded her in death in 1960.
She retired from the Erickson Corp. Prior to that, she worked many years at Brockway Glass Co.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved to crochet and enjoyed writing poetry for her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Dunlap and her husband, James of DuBois and Diane Damus of Fenwick Island, Del.; six grandchildren, Kim Clyde, Brad Dunlap, Jeff Damus, J.R. Damus, Joe Damus and Jill Lambertson; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was affectionately known to all of her grandchildren as “Ga-Ga.”
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Melroy Tatters and William Tatters.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor John Miller officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
