Obituary Notice: Norman R. Homan

Norman R. Homan, 96, of DuBois died Monday, July 10, 2017 at his home.

Born April 30, 1921 in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Ralph and Joyce (Dewey) Homan.

In 1942, he graduated from Penn State University.   During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant.

On April 19, 1944, he married Adelaide S. “Sandy” Homan.  She preceded him in death Aug. 24, 2006.

After the war, he went to work for Pan American World Airways in 1951, and in 1953, he worked with Lake Central Airlines in Indianapolis, Ind. 

Lake Central Airlines merged with Allegheny Airlines in 1968, and the name was changed to U.S. Air in 1979.  He retired from U.S. Air in 1984, and moved to Treasure Lake.

He enjoyed going to the DuBois Area YMCA and fantasy baseball. He was a member of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Polka Club. 

As a follower of Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin, he was a devout believer in Deism.

He is survived by a daughter, Marjorie Krampe of Rockport, Tenn., two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc. with Pastor Kenneth Sherwood officiating.

Burial will be in Lakelawn Memorial Park in Reynoldsville.
