Obituary Notice: Lois L. Monella

Lois L. Monella, 82, of DuBois died Wednesday March 23, 2016 at her home.

Born Oct. 2, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ruth (Chick) Lines.

She married Angelo V. Monella on March 22, 1952.  He preceded her in death on June 9, 2011.

Mrs. Monella was a homemaker and a volunteer at Penn Highlands Hospital.

She worked on the election board for the Oklahoma Precinct in Sandy Township for many years.  She was also one of the founders of the Oklahoma Elementary PTA.

Surviving are five children, Cindy Lydick and her husband, Steve of Falls Creek, Sue Thom and her husband, Ken of Ridgway; Pat Monella and her companion, Lou Jordan of Reynoldsville and David Monella and Daniel Monella and his wife, Michelle, both of DuBois.

Also surviving are a son-in-law, Ed Rieg of Big Run, 12 grandchildren, one step-grandchild, 16 great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and her sister, Helen Shaw of Cabot.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorna Rieg and a granddaughter, Sydney Rae Anthony.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home Inc., DuBois.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home Inc., with Pastor Kevin Bockus officiating.

Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Mary Beth Askey, 73, of Clearfield died Friday, March 25, 2016 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.

She was born July 26, 1942 in Philipsburg, a daughter of the late Carl and Pauline (West) Askey.

She was employed in the housekeeping department at the Clearfield Hospital, Goodwill in DuBois and also at the former Elcam in Clearfield.

She had a gift and love of art, as she was constantly drawing with pencils or chalk and winning many ribbons at the Clearfield County Fair.

She is survived by two brothers, Howard Askey of Hyde and Robert Askey and his wife, Nancy of Albany, Ga.; a sister, Catherine Blaskow of Pittsburgh; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with the Rev. Dr. Joleen A. Willis officiating. Burial will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Jane K. Fox, 89, of Osceola Mills died Friday, March 25, 2016 at her home. Born Oct. 27, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Johnathan K. and Edith (Stott) Henderson.

She married James E. Fox on Aug. 14, 1948 in Osceola Mills. He preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 2004.

Mrs. Fox was a member of the First Church of Christ in Philipsburg.  She was a homemaker and a member of Planned Parenthood, Contemporary Club, in Philipsburg.

She was also a former board member of the Family Health Services, DAR, in Philipsburg, VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Osceola Mills and BPOE Elks No. 1173 in Philipsburg.

She attended the Philipsburg Schools and graduated from the Warrenton Country School in Warrenton, Va.  She was a 1948 graduate of Hood College in Frederick, Md.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, John Prince and a sister, Gail Rossier.

She is survived by a daughter, Edith Ann Sipe and her husband, Richard of Clearfield; four sons, James Emmett Fox Jr. and his wife, Cindy of Yuma, Ariz., Joseph H. Fox and William C. Fox and his wife, Sandra, both of Osceola Mills, and Patrick A. Fox and his wife, Sue of Bay City, Texas; and a brother, James S. Henderson and his wife, Marie of Philipsburg.

Mrs. Fox is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jesse O’Donnell, Sara Gray, James Fox, Christopher Fox, Kristen Fox, Hunter Fox and Kaelie Fox and five great-grandchildren.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family at the First Church of Christ in Philipsburg, with Pastor Ryan Parish officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Wayne R. Spilman, 58, of DuBois died Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

Born Nov. 10, 1957 in Washington D.C., he was the son of James M. and Marjorie E. (Wondrack) Spilman.  They both survive.

On Sept. 3, 1977, he married Paula G. (Mitchell) Spilman.  She survives.

He retired as a maintenance supervisor of the Shawville Power Plant.

Mr. Spilman loved and devoted his life to his family and friends.  He was an avid sports fan, especially following his children and their events.

He was a member of the St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Clearfield.  He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 409.

He is survived by five children, Matthew L. Spilman, Janelle C. Spilman, Carolyn A. Spilman, Mark A. Spilman and Christian P. Spilman; a sister, Kathy Boyt and her husband, Rick; and a brother, James “Tom” Spilman and his wife, Alison.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, at the St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Clearfield with Fr. John Miller as celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Raymond Russel Love, of Houtzdale died Sunday, March 27, 2016 at his residence. Born March 8, 1921 in Houtzdale, he was the son of Robert and Pearl (Charlton) Love.

Mr. Love was a member of the New Hope Christian Fellowship Church, Houtzdale.

He was also a member of the Moshannon Valley EMS; United Commercial Travelers; Houtzdale Lions Club where he was a past president; Moshannon Valley Choral Club; and Madera EMS.

He was a former president of the Clearfield County Republican Committee and former Houtzdale Little League coach, and he served as Woodward Township Chief Constable. For more than 25 years, he was a member of the Houtzdale Volunteer Fire Company and for 20 years, he was a member of the Houtzdale-Ramey EMS.

Mr. Love was a charter member of the Moshannon Valley School District and one of the first school board members. He was one of the propitiators of Houtzdale Bottle Works.

He was a graduate of the Houtzdale High School. He retired from National Bank of the Commonwealth and was the owner of Love’s Service Station & Restaurant. He was a civilian aircraft observer during World War II.

On Nov. 17, 1951 in Houtzdale, he married Ruth O. (Thomas), who survives at home.

Mr. Love is survived by a son, Gregory Love and his companion, Julie of Houtzdale; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Ashley Crawford of Dubois, Joshua Force of Syracuse, NY, Raymond Force of Philipsburg and Jonathan Force of Houtzdale; and a brother, Robert Love.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Lee Force; an infant grandson, James Love; three brothers, Frank Love, Walter Love and Tom Love; a sister, Marge Love-Thomas and two infant sisters, Adaline and Ruth.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., with the Rev. Dennis Frantz officiating.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The Houtzdale Lions Club will hold a memorial service at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday followed by the Houtzdale Fire Co. service at 7 p.m.  Both will be at the funeral home.

Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brisbin.

Homer L. Weaver, 83, of Hyde died Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the home of his daughter in Brush Valley Township, Indiana County after a brief illness.

Born July 1, 1932 in Smicksburg, he was the son of Reverend Homer L Sr. and Freda Louise (Cornman) Weaver.

Mr. Weaver was a retired linesman for Bell Telephone/Verizon. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Centre Grove United Methodist Church in Hyde.

He wed the former Gay Waite, who preceded him in death.  He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William.

Surviving are three children, Sharon Kay Jamison and her husband, Jeff of Penn Run, Daniel L. Weaver and his wife, Sheila of Northern Cambria and Jeannie Lee Karlheim and her husband, Richard of Carrolltown.

Also surviving are five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Elbel of Punxsutawney; a brother, Joseph Weaver and his wife, Beverly of Blairsville; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Weaver of Strongstown.

At the request of Mr. Weaver, there will be no public visitation.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at the North Point Cemetery in North Point, Indiana County, with the Rev. Duvall officiating.

The family suggests contributions be made to the Centre Grove United Methodist Church, Village Road, Clearfield, PA 16830.

Doris B. Frantz, 88, of DuBois died Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Christ the King Manor.

Born May 30, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Daisy (Long) Johnson.

On June 29 1949, she married Camden “Cam” B. Frantz. He preceded her in death on May 16, 2002.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda Lauver  and her husband, Jerry of Reynoldsville; two brothers, Dennis Johnson and Ronald Johnson, both of DuBois; three sisters, Shirley Cleary of Schenectady, NY, Joyce Penvose of Sykesville and Sandra Kelege of DuBois; and one grandson, Craig Lauver and his wife, the Rev. Charlene Lauver.

She was preceded in death by her son, Camden “Butch” B. Frantz Jr.; two sisters, Donna Chittester and Phyllis  Shiroky; and a brother, Melvin Johnson.

Mrs. Frantz will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, beautiful smile and loving sweet spirit. Her greatest joy was her family, friends and love of country music.

There will be no visitation.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. April 9 at the Trinity Chapel, 106 W. Scribner Ave., DuBois, with the Rev. Charlene Lauver officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church reception hall.

Robert J. ‘Tink’ Neff, 76, of Clearfield died Monday, March 28, 2016 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.

He was born Dec. 29, 1939, a son of the late Willis L. and Fannie (Amon) Neff.

Mr. Neff had been employed at the Shawville Coal Company as a foreman, Hamilton Excavating and the Dick Corp., Pittsburgh.

He was a member of Jaffa Temple Shrine of Altoona and the Free and Accepted Masons of Altoona Lodge 281.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Neff served during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by three daughters, Robin Stiner and her husband, Kevin of West Sunbury, Rhonda Ogden and her husband, Michael of Clearfield and Wendy Young and her husband, Chris of Woodland.

He is survived by eight grandchildren, Nikki Stiner and her fiancé, Mike Kaylor, Joseph Stiner and his fiancée, Kayla Cole, Ashley Blackledge and her husband, Keith, Shellbie King, Michael Ogden Jr. and his wife, Lucy, Levi Picard and his fiancé, Darien Casher, Zachary McGonigal and his girlfriend, Casey Mathew and Matthew Young and his wife, Alyssa.

He is also survived by a great-grandson, Anthony; a former wife, Nancy Barrett of Clearfield; a brother, Jack Neff and his wife, Ann of Clearfield; and a sister, Joyce Harzinski of Curwensville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Willis ‘Cub’ M. Neff.

In accordance to Mr. Neff’s wishes, there were not to be any services.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.

Charles F. “Chuck” Krach, 54, of Reynoldsville died Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at his home.

Born March 4, 1962 in DuBois, he was the son of the late Robert L. Krach Sr. and Helen J. (Clinchoc) Krach.

Mr. Krach was a member of the Sykesville Eagles and the Middle Ridge Sportsmen’s Club.  He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors.

He is survived by a son, Joshua Krach and his wife, Jessica; three brothers, Robert L. Krach Jr. and his wife, Debra, Gary L. Krach and his wife, Denise and Jeffrey A. Krach and his wife, Kimberly; and one sister, Kathryn L. DeLarme and her husband, James.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Douglas Krach.

There will be no public visitation.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Friday at the Sykesville Eagles.

Kenneth S. “Ken” Confer died peacefully in his home on Sunday, March 27, 2016 in Morrisdale, at the age of 77.

He is survived by his children, Kenneth A. Confer and his fiancée, Diana Timko, Audie Confer and his wife, Cindy, and Melissa Wooster and her husband, Christopher, all of  Lanse; Shelly  Jones and her husband, William Sr. of Morrisdale; Stewart Confer and his fiancée, Tami Barnes of Bellefonte; and John Confer and his companion, Beth Ryves of Kylertown.

He had 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren for whom he adored and loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Mr. Confer was born Sept. 26, 1938 in Gregg Township Centre County to Stewart F. and Alice M. (Faust) Confer. He attended Penns Valley Schools.

He married Joan Diane Moskol on Nov. 20, 1965 in Spring Mills. He worked as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for most of his life.

His children remember him as a hard-working, driven father who always loved and provided for his family.

Mr. Confer was an accomplished mechanic and craftsman who could make something out of just about anything.  He was a loving, dedicated individual who loved to be outdoors and who was passionate about hunting, fishing, racing and watching sports.

He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church as well as the Clearfield Moose.

A memorial service is scheduled for Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Friends and family will be received from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. with services to follow with Pastor Kenneth Zitsch to officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mr. Confer’s life.

Cora Heichel, 87, of Karthaus died Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Clearfield Penn Highlands Hospital.

She was born Jan. 30, 1929, the daughter of the late Sarah Mock Lanager.

Mrs. Heichel was a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Karthaus.

She was a 1948 graduate of the Cooper Township High School.

She was a life member of the Karthaus Volunteer Fire Co.

Mrs. Heichel was active with the Area Agency on Aging and Over 60’s Club and at the Karthaus Senior Center.

She was married to Larry W. Heichel. He preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 1995.

She is survived by one son, Randy Heichel of Karthaus; two grandchildren, Mandy Hile of Grampian and Jay Heichel of Clearfield; and two great-grandchildren, Alaina and Elliot Hile of Grampian.

She was the last member of her generation. In addition to her mother and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Cyrus Lanager; two step-brothers, Raymond and Emanuel Lanager; and three step-sisters, Selma Dale, Gussie Shadeck and Maude Burfield.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Karthaus, with the Rev. Matthew Finney officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Memorial Cemetery, Karthaus.

Rex Douglas Donahue, 60, of Brookville died Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at his home after a short illness.

He was born on Feb. 1, 1956 in Trumbull, Ohio. He was the son of the late Ross and Margaret (Pyne) Donahue.

He was married to Millie (Morris) Donahue. She survives.

Mr. Donahue enjoyed NASCAR, camping, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates and spending time with family.

He is survived by his two sons, Dana and his wife, Jennifer Donahue of Brockway and Matthew Shaffer of Brookville and three daughters, Holly and her husband, Deepak Singh of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Millie Marshall and Heather Donahue of Brookville.

He is survived by four granddaughters and four grandsons; two brothers, Edward and his wife, Debbie Donahue of Rockton and Ross and his wife, MaryEllen Donahue of Texas; a sister, Maureen Smith of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Linda Halowell and two brother-in-laws, Ronald Halowell and Wayne Hamilton.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Home Inc. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Paul Godin, 95, of Clearfield died Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Ridgeview Health Care, Curwensville.

Mr. Godin was born July 1, 1920, the son of Emil and Josephine (Tubo) Godin.

He retired from Lingle Coal Company as a dragline operator.

Mr. Godin was a member of the Clearfield Alliance Church.

He is survived by two children, Nancy L. Ordonez of Curwensville and Larry P. Godin and his wife, Jenny of Wollongong, Australia; a sister, Daisy Chnupa of Clearfield; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Godin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Julia A. (Spencer) Godin, who died Jan. 17, 1998 and to whom he was married Dec. 7, 1940; a daughter, Cindy A. Davis; four sisters; and a brother.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield, with the Rev. Robert B. Goldenberg officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Joy Cemetery.

Donald Paul Parisi, 80, Luthersburg, died Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Christ the King Manor.

Born Dec. 21, 1935 in Benezette Township, Elk County, he was the son of the late Paul and Pauline E. (Hollingsworth) Parisi.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

On Oct. 14, 1960, he married Arlene A. Stanford.  She preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 2015.

Mr. Parisi retired from Consolidated National Gas in Luthersburg as a meter measurement specialist after 35 years of service.

He was a member of the Garfield Lodge No. 559 Free and Accepted Masons, the Jefferson Chapter No. 225, Kittanning Council No. 52 and the Warren Commandery of Knights Templar.

Having served as presiding officer at each of these bodies, he received the KYCH award in Pittsburgh Priory.

He was also a member of Coudersport Consistory, the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post 17 and the Sandy Hose Company No. 1 Fireman’s Club.

He was also a volunteer fireman for the Brady Township Fire Company and a volunteer EMT for the Brady Township Ambulance.

He is survived by two daughters, Robin Powers and her husband, Stephen of Penfield, and Tamara Roney of Luthersburg; a sister, Shelby McClusky and her husband, James of Benezette; a brother, Kenneth Parisi of York; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.

A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Felt officiating.

Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the funeral home.

Doris F. Haag, 77, of Punxsutawney died Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Christ the King Manor.

Born June 23, 1938 in Ridgway, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Alma (Yonkie) Frederick.

On June 24, 1967, she married Raymond L. Haag.  He survives.

She was a homemaker and a member of Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ Church.

She was also a member of the Ladies Aide and was active in church affairs for many years.  She was also a member of the Homemaker’s Club and the Reynoldsville Quilt Club.

She loved gardening, crafts, crocheting, needlepoint, quilting, sewing, cooking, baking, canning and putting puzzles together.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey R. Haag of Newport News, Va., and her daughter, Colleen R. Russell and her husband, Bradford of DuBois.

She is also survived by four sisters, Hazel Taylor, Grace Williams, Kathryn Kline, Marge Rhines and her husband, Jack and three grandsons, Brendan Haag, Wesley and Jonathan Russell.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Richard Frederick and four sisters, Esther Lentz, Marion Salvatore, Alice Lang and Shirley Rhines and a daughter-in-law, Amy Haag.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Friday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home, and from 10 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ Church.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Audra Krise and Pastor Sally Lydic co-officiating.

Burial will be in Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery.

Wallace Henry Sisco, 79, of Tyrone and formerly of New Millport and Clearfield, died Monday, March 28, 2016 at Epworth Manor in Tyrone.

Born Dec. 2, 1936 in Franklin, NJ, he was the son of Arthur and Etta (Babcock) Sisco.  He was a self-employed contractor and Scrape Iron Dealer.

Surviving are four children, Evelyn Dennis and her husband, Stanley of New Millport, Lawrence Sisco of Reynoldsville, Wanda Solomon of LaJose and Jerry Sisco of Luthersburg.

Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Nate Dennis of New Millport; a sister, Anna Harris and her husband, Richard of Olanta; two brothers, Fred Sisco and his wife, Terri and George Sisco and his wife, Molly, both of New Jersey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Wallace H. Sisco Jr. and John Sisco; a daughter, Sandra Dennis; two brothers, Sonny and Harry Sisco; and a sister, Laura Sisco.

There will be no public visitation and private memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Burial will be in the Fruit Hill Cemetery in Ansonville.

The family suggests contributions be made to the Kellytown Union Church Homefront Missions Fund.

Willa (Billie Jean) Solley Appleton, 86, of Dallas, Ga., and formerly of Grampian, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 in Georgia.

Born Jan. 20, 1930, she was the daughter of Roscoe and Rheva (Rowles) Solley.

Surviving are her daughters, Nancy and her fiancé, Dave of Pennsylvania, Wava and her husband, Ken and Gail and her husband, Benny, both of Georgia and Patti Jo and her husband, Steve of Florida.

Also surviving are five grandchildren, Vicky, Sherry, Jereme, Joshua and Brandi, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter and a brother, Gale and his wife, Ilene of Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Antoinette “Toni”; two sisters, Lou and Flora; and three brothers, Jay, Leon and John.

A memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. May 21 at the Bilger’s Rocks Pavilion.

Elaine Montoro, 78, of Berlin, Md., died Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md.

She was born Nov. 10, 1937 in Bigler Township to the late Joseph and Julia Delattre Mick.

Mrs. Montoro graduated in 1955 from the Bigler Township (Madera) High School.

In addition to being a homemaker, she was employed for several years at Navasky’s clothing company.

She was the wife of Frank “Muzzy” Montoro, who preceded her in death in 2000.

Mrs. Montoro was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Madera as well as a member of the Altar Rosary Society, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Madera VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

She had recently moved full-time to Ocean Pines to enjoy the beach. She also loved her dog, “Kobe,” gardening, reading, dancing and doing puzzles.

She is survived by her daughters, Colette Reifer and Claudia Plevinsky; her son-in-laws, John and Marty; her grandchildren, Alexander, Brooke, Christopher and Sean; her brother, Maxillian Mick; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Saturday, April 9 at the Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services Inc., Ramey.

A memorial mass will follow at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey, with Father Zab Amar officiating.  Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Madera.

Memorial contributions may be made to a local humane society or by gifting a large print novel in Mrs. Montoro’s name for a local library.

Martha J. “Martie” Roos, 85, of Clearfield died Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.

Mrs. Roos was born Nov. 3, 1930 in Houtzdale, the daughter of George and Mary (Magilton) O’Dell.

She had worked 17 years for Letzlers Motors of Houtzdale. She had also volunteered for 27 years at the Clearfield Hospital.

Mrs. Roos was Methodist by faith.

She was an active contributor to the SPCA. Also, she was past president of the Hyde Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

Mrs. Roos is survived by her husband, Robert J. Roos, to whom she was married April 10, 1962 in Winchester, Va.

She is also survived by a daughter, Lonna J. Lombardo and her husband, Charles of Clearfield; two grandchildren, Robert C. and Tia J. Lombardo; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was the last member of her generation. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Betty M. Wilson.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2016 at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield with Pastor Scott Schultz officiating.

Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday and from 2 p.m. Sunday until the hour of services at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Frances Botwright, 90, of Forest Hills, and formerly of Philipsburg, died Tuesday, March 29, 2016.

Born Sept. 29, 1925 in Troop, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Andrew George “James” Solava and Charlotte (Brucher) Solava.

On Jan. 26, 1952 in Philipsburg, she married Arnold L. Botwright, who died March 11, 1985.

She was a dedicated volunteer for many years at the Forest Hills Senior Citizen Center. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Forest Hills and the Forest Hills AARP.

She is survived by three sisters, Theresa Martha of Philipsburg, Irene Butler of Florida and Jean Frazer of Texas; a brother, William Solava of Pennsylvania; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her dear friend, Annie Mellor.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, James and Edward and two sisters, Clara Marin and Cathy Cady.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, Philipsburg, with Pastor Robert Way officiating. Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
