Obituary Notice: Helen B. Salsgiver

Helen B. Salsgiver, 91, of DuBois died Monday, April 1, 2013 at Christ the King Manor.

Born Feb. 23, 1922 in Indiana County, she was the daughter of the late Brock and Wilda (Kinter) Braughler.

On Feb. 8, 1940, she married Ralph V. Salsgiver.  He preceded her in death in 1998.

She was a homemaker. She loved to hunt and paint.

She is survived by her three children, Peg Edmiston of DuBois, Vincent Salsgiver of Corry and Robert Salsgiver of Indiana; eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

There will be no public visitation.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Obituary Notice: Mark R. Miscavish

Mark R. Miscavish, 52, of Philipsburg died Thursday, March 28, 2013 in Decatur Township, RD Philipsburg.

He was the son of the late Frank A. and Lillian (Kizer) Gallagher Miscavish born Jan. 2, 1961 in Philipsburg. Mr. Miscavish had attended the Messiah Baptist Church in Kylertown.

Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted into the U.S. Army, where he served as an Airborne Ranger, attaining the rank of sergeant, until his discharge in 1996. 

After leaving the U.S. Army, he worked as a dispatcher with the Pennsylvania State Police.  He was then accepted into the Pennsylvania State Police academy in 1999, where he served as a trooper until his retirement in 2011.

He was a 1979 graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School and a 2000 graduate of the Pennsylvania State Police academy in Hershey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dorsey and Douglas Gallagher.

He is survived by a daughter, Nadine Y. Miscavish and her husband, Nick of RD Philipsburg; a brother, David L. Gallagher and his wife, Christine D of Winchester, VA; a grandchild, Cameron Miscavish of RD Philipsburg; and a nephew, David C. Gallagher of Philipsburg.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg.  Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills.

There will be no public visitation; however, the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  Military honors will be accorded by members of the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.

Zoe Elizabeth Causer, infant daughter of Dale A. and Crystal K. (Deacon) Causer, of Allport, was born and died Monday, April 1, 2013 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two sisters, twins Abby and Ashley Causer; her maternal grandparents, John and Darlene Deacon of West Decatur; and paternal grandparents, Edwin and Shirley Causer of Portage.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St., Philipsburg, with Pastor John T. Dill officiating.

Burial will be in the Allport Cemetery.

Daniel B. Hibner, 71 of Erie died Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Erie VA Medical Center in Erie. Born Jan. 27, 1942 in DuBois, he was the son of the late DeLose E. Hibner II and Helen (Landis) Hibner. 

He attended the Second Avenue Grade School and DuBois Junior High School.  He was a 1960 graduate of the DuBois Area High School, where he was on the wrestling team and played football.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in November of 1960.  He had training at Fort Knox, KY and Fort Gordon, GA.  After training, he was stationed at Thule, Greenland and Fort Richie, MD as a military policeman.  He was discharged in November of 1963.

He attended Robert Morris Junior College in 1964 and 1965.  He moved to Erie in 1966 and lived there until his death.  He worked at Kaiser Aluminum from 1966 to 1997.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting guns.  He enjoyed watching high school and college wrestling, and watching college and professional football.  He belonged to the American Legion in Erie and Gem City Gun Clubs. 

He is survived by one daughter, Debra L. Hibner of California, one brother, Richard K. Hibner of Harrisburg, a sister-in-law, Jane Hibner of DuBois, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, DeLose E. Hibner III and David L. Hibner.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.

Memorial Service: The. Rev. Dr. A. Glenn “Doc” Williams

A memorial mass for the Rev. Dr. A. Glenn “Doc” Williams will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Sunday at the St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Clearfield. The Right Rev. Sean W. Rowe, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania, will preside as celebrant.

Father Williams died Jan. 5, 2013 at Colonial Courtyard, Clearfield, after a protracted illness.

He had been the priest in charge of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Clearfield, and St. Laurence Episcopal Church, Osceola Mills, until his death. He also operated his business, The Village Chiropractor, in Curwensville until his retirement in 2011.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Millie Joan Mayersky, 93, of Curwensville died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield. Born Aug. 17, 1919, she was the daughter of James and Caroline (Donia) Quethera. 

She first worked for Jets Sportswear sewing flaps on Duffle Bags for U.S. servicemen.  She worked for Kent’s Sportswear in Curwensville and sewed zippers in jackets, and then in 1966 she worked for the former Ames Department Store in the Customer Service Department.  During her employment with Ames, she helped open an additional five Ames Department Stores.

She was a member of the St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville, where she was a member of and past President of the Altar and Rosary Society, and for a number of years, she was the funeral luncheon coordinator.  She also catered weddings, showers and parties, had delivered “Meals on Wheels” for the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging and taught Wednesday morning craft classes at the Curwensville Civic Center (Curwensville Community Center) for 23 years.

She volunteered at the Mercy Mission in Clearfield and for the “Make A Difference Day” in Curwensville. She was a member of the Hobby Garden Club of Clearfield, where she was past president for many years and planted flowers at the entrance to Curwensville next to the railroad underpass. She was also involved with many other activities.  She also babysat the four Sheeder children, Linzy, Ariann, Cruise and Brian.

On June 8, 1940 at St. Francis Church in Clearfield, she wed Henry S. Mayersky who preceded her in death Oct. 7, 1993.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Jenny Minute, Frances “Buckles” Ettaro, Mary Pelgrin, Anna Errigo, Caroline Sutherland and Jeanie Snyder; and seven brothers, Frank, Anthony “Al”, James Jr., Sanford, Carmen, Joseph and Samuel Quethera.

Surviving are three children, Joan Kendall and her husband, William of Pawleys Island, SC, a granddaughter, Michelle Kendall Kunisky and her husband, Paul of Camp Hill and a great-grandson, Alexander Kunisky, a grandson, Scott Kendall and his wife, Tonya of Mechanicsburg and two great-grandchildren, Teyona and Michael Kendall; a daughter, Judith Selfridge and her husband, Theodore of Burlington, VT, a grandson, Ritch Selfridge and his wife, Tami of Bainbridge, NY, and great-grandchildren, Skyler, Allison, Ben, Abigail and Erica, a granddaughter, Valerie Wennar and her husband, Todd of Milton, VT and two great-granddaughters, Addison and Emma; and a son, John H. Mayersky and his wife, Sara of Clearfield, a grandson, Michael Mayersky and his wife, Shannon of Woodland and a great-grandson, Dominic Mayersky and a grandson, David Mayersky of Clearfield.

Also surviving are a brother, Louis Quethera of Geneva, NY, and her “adopted grandson,” Mark Ishler.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville, with the Rev. Father Mark J. Mastrian as celebrant. Burial will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park of Hyde.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville and from 9 a.m. – 9:40 a.m. Saturday when the procession will depart for the church.

The Rosary will be recited by members of St. Timothy Altar and Rosary Society at 3 p.m. Friday. A Scripture Vigil Service will be conducted at 7:45 p.m. Friday. Both are at the funeral home.

The family suggests contributions be made to either St. Timothy Altar and Rosary Society or St. Timothy Church Memorial Fund, both at 306 Walnut St., Curwensville, PA 16833 or the St. Francis School Endowment Fund, 212 S. Front St., Clearfield, PA 16830.

Emily J. Bailey, 83, of Curwensville and formerly of Woodland and Hyde, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the Ridgeview Elder Care and Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville. She was born Feb. 22, 1930 in Eau Claire, WI, a daughter of the late Douglas H. and Ruth Blanche (Teare) Woodworth.

Mrs. Bailey was employed as a dental assistant for f15 years in Temple Hills, MD. She was a member of Lake Street United Methodist Church of Woodland, the National Audubon Society, the Nature Conservancy, the National Wildlife Federation, the Arbor Day Foundation and the American Chestnut Foundation.

She is survived by two children, Barbara Cronin of Woodland and Robert Scott Bailey and his wife, Paula of Prince Frederick, MD and three grandchildren, Sean, Nathan and Steven Bailey.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Lake Street United Methodist Church, Woodland with Pastor Sean Patrick Smith officiating.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The Nature Conservancy, 4245 N. Fairfax Dr., Suite 100, Arlington, VA 22203-1606.

Anthony Patrick Scrano, 86, of Clearfield died Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Clearfield Hospital.

Born Nov. 21, 1926 in Madera, he was the son of Frederick and Felicia (Nardo) Scrano.  Mr. Scrano was a stone mason and bricklayer and worked for the International Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Union.

He was a member of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Clearfield. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the World War II and a member of the Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Clearfield Sons of Italy.

On May 17, 1947 in Houtzdale, he wed the former Jean Cupp, who survives along with three daughters, Linda Law and her husband, John and Annette Fishbone and her husband, Daniel, both of Clearfield and Cynthia Himes and her husband, Laurence of York.

Also surviving are six grandchildren, Richard Law, Kate Law Rhodes, Catherine Himes, Patrick Himes, Scott Fishbone and Abby Fishbone and a brother, Frank Scrano of Clearfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Clearfield, with the Rev. Msgr Henry Krebs as Celebrant. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Olanta.

Friends will be received from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. Clearfield from 9 a.m. until 9:40 a.m. Monday when the procession will depart for the church.

Mildred I. Marcinko, 88, of Lanse died Sunday, March 7, 2013 at the Windy Hill Village, Philipsburg. Born Dec. 24, 1924 in Munson, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Daisy Belle Davis Shaw.

Mrs. Marcinko was a member of the St. Severin Roman Catholic Church, Drifting. She was a member of the church choir, Ministers of Care and a former Eucharistic Minister of St. Severin.

She was a graduate of the Morris Township High School and formerly employed by the McCrory’s Store in Philipsburg for 25 years.

She was married to George J. Marcinko on July 26, 1947. He preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1982.

Mrs. Marcinko is survived by a daughter, Georgene and her husband, Neil of Bellefonte and a son, Martin Marcinko and his wife, Sheryl of Rattlesnake Mountain. Also surviving are grandchildren, Rebecca Heller and her husband, Chris and Lora Fasy and her husband, Shane, all of Perkasie, Jenna Palmateer and her husband, Albert of Harrisburg and Tyler Marcinko of Tarrytown, NY, and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Janet Gruendler and Jean Nelson and one granddaughter, Jennifer Shaw. She was the last of her generation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Severin Roman Catholic Church, Drifting, with the Father David A. Perry Jr. as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Severin Roman Catholic Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale. The Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

David L. Oncea, 49, of Philipsburg died Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Clearfield Hospital. Born Dec. 4, 1963, he was the son of Raymond and Rita Graffius Oncea of Philipsburg.

He’s survived by a brother, Raymond B. Oncea and his wife, Laurie of Winburne, an aunt Marie Oncea Roos and her husband, Richard of Lanse and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Oncea was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

There will not be any public visitation. Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Frank J. Cambria, 92, of Greensboro, NC and formerly of Clearfield, died Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Spring Arbor of Greensboro.

He was born Oct. 28, 1920 in Clearfield, a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Unch) Cambria.
Mr. Cambria was formerly an associate of Soult Wholesale Lumber Co., Clearfield, retiring in 1989 after 45 years of service. A veteran of World War II, he was awarded the Bronze Star for Meritorious service while serving with the U.S. Army.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, the Knights of Columbus Clearfield Council #409, the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6 and the Clearfield Sons of Italy Lodge #189. He was former member of the Clearfield Kiwanis Club and the Clearfield Curwensville Country Club.

He was loved for his positive outlook on life and his wonderful humor. He lived a happy, full life including travels with his wife to many different countries and vacations with the family. He was a beloved husband and caring father whose passion in life was his family and spending time with them. He also enjoyed golfing and playing guitar and piano.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce H. (Heyworth) Cambria, whom he wed Aug. 27, 1955 in Clearfield, and five children, Anthony Sembiante and his wife, Kathy of Pittsburgh, F. Joseph Cambria of North Carolina; Linda O’Day and her husband, John of Burlington, NC, Anita Billotte and her husband, Ron of Whitsett, NC and Karen Pizzella and her husband, Matt of Summerfield, NC.

 

Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Brian O’Day, Heather O’Day, Kristin O’Day Cleveland  and Elyse Pizzella, all of North Carolina, Tom DeMurry and Bobbie DeMurry and Adam Billotte, all of Pennsylvania and Aaron Billotte of Georgia; four great-grandchildren, Jensen and Devin Billotte, Clara Rose Cleveland and Sean O’Day; a sister, Angeline Cambria of Clearfield; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a first wife, Betty Sigety; three sisters and two brothers, Frances Timko, Rose Hatley, Anna, Joseph and and Jack G. Cambria.

A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee, Jr. as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW posts honor guards.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield and again from 10:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday. A Christian Vigil service will be held at 1:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

George Radomsky, 88, of Patton died Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the Altoona Regional Health System in Altoona. He was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Prestash) Radomsky born Aug. 17, 1924 in Smoke Run.

He married the former Joann O’Bradovich in 1960 in Kentucky.  She preceded him in death in 1977.

Mr. Radomsky was a member of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Hawk Run.  He was an Army veteran of World War II and formerly a member of the Patton Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.

He was a safety director for U.S. Steel, North American Steel and Consol Energy of Pittsburgh until retiring.  He had also been an instructor of mining engineering at Penn State.

Mr. Radomsky was the valedictorian of the class of 1945 from the Beccaria Township High School.  He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in mining engineering from Penn State.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Radomsky and a sister, Marie Ellzey.

Mr. Radomsky is survived by a son, David Radomsky of Vienna, VA; a brother, Robert Radomsky and his wife, Gerry of Curwensville; a niece, Elizabeth D. Radomsky and her husband, Douglas Delaney and a great-niece, Joanna Delaney, all of Pittsburgh.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Nativity of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Hawk Run, with the Rev. Peter Benyo officiating.  Burial will be at the church cemetery in Hawk Run.

Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home in Philipsburg.

Panahida will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ann Mary Rafferty Ogden, known as “Mary,” of West Decatur died Saturday, April 6, 2013. She was born Jan. 22, 1938, 1938 in Grampian, a daughter of the late John and Ann Gannon Rafferty.

She was the oldest of four children. She attended Curwensville High School and graduated in 1956. She worked as a certified professional secretary for Dravo, Johnson and Johnson and Curtis Wright, as well as several other companies. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Grampian.

She’s survived by a daughter, Crystal Ogden Baird and her husband, Thomas Lee Baird, of Hot Springs, AR; four grandchildren, Heather Laine Ogden, James John Paul Ogden, Amanda Baird Hill and her husband, Matt and Emily Ann Baird; and three great-grandchildren, Dana and Helena Peteuil and Jude Matthew Hill.

Surviving are two sisters, Christine Rafferty McCafferty and her husband, John and Shelia Rafferty Capatch and her husband, James and two sister-in-laws, Maureen Gannon Rafferty and Joanne Ogden Price and her husband, William R. Price. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Her family came first and she was always filled with compassion, wit, and love.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin Paul Ogden Sr. on July 26, 2000 and whom she married Feb. 23, 1957 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. She was also preceded in death by her son, Marlin Paul Ogden Jr. and her brother, John Regis Rafferty.

A funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, Grampian, with the Rev. Mark J. Mastrian as celebrant. A reception will follow the mass at the church fellowship hall. Following the reception, the committal service will be held at the Eden Cemetery, Shawville.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with the Rosary being recited at 6 p.m. and a Christian Vigil service at 7:45 p.m.

Harry A. Lego, 59, of Philipsburg died Monday, April, 8, 2013 in Philipsburg. Born Sept. 9, 1953, he was the son of Michael and Kathryn Hubler Lego.

Mr. Lego was a 1972 graduate of the Philipsburg High School. He worked for Penn State.

He married Sandra K. Smith Lego on July 26, 1975 at the Summit Hill United Methodist Church, Morrisdale. She survives in Philipsburg.

Mr. Lego is survived by two sons, Gregory A. Lego and his wife, Kimberly of Osceola Mills and Raymond M. Lego and his wife, Jan of Italy, along with six grandchildren, Brandon, MacKenzie, Julia, Trenton, Gracie and Samantha.

Also surviving are two sisters, Kathy Vaughn and her husband, Gerry of Florida and Helen Knepp and her husband, Richard of Morrisdale and three brothers, Metro “Joe” Lego, Andy Lego and his wife, Robin and John Lego and his wife Lisa, all of Osceola Mills.

Mr. Lego was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel of the Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale, with the Pastor Donna Vaux officiating. Burial will be in the Summit Hill United Methodist Cemetery, Morrisdale.

Jerome P Thompson, 64 of Houtzdale died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at his residence. Born April 27, 1948 in Philipsburg, he was a son of Willard and Anna Leskovansky Thompson.

He was member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, a member and treasurer of the Knights of Columbus Our Lady of the Valley Council No. 10376, Pope John Paul II Fourth Degree Assembly No. 952, Clearfield, the Houtzdale Loyal Order of Moose, president of the Houtzdale Fire Co. #1 and a member of the Houtzdale Fire Police.

He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement.

On Aug. 10, 1984 in Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, he married the former Dorothy Miscavish, who survives at home.

He’s survived by a son, Scott Miscavish and his wife, Stephanie and a granddaughter, Madison Miscavish of Houtzdale.

Also surviving are three brothers, Edward Thompson and his wife, Debbie, Eugene Thompson and his wife, Supah and David Thompson and his wife, Mary Ellen, all of Houtzdale; a sister, Jeanette Read and her husband, Rodger of Clearfield; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, with Father Stanley Swacha as celebrant.

Burial will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery, Houtzdale.

Friends will be received 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Friday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale.

The Altar and Rosary Society will recite the Rosary at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The Houtzdale Fire Co. will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. and Pope John Paul II Fourth Degree Assembly and the Knights of Columbus Our Lady of the Valley Council will hold a prayer service at 8:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Amy Lynn Russell, 47, of Waynesboro and formerly of Curwensville died Saturday, April 6, 2013 at her residence.

Born Oct. 1, 1965 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of Kenneth C. and Frances (Groves) Russell.

Ms. Russell had been employed as a waitress.  She was a 1983 graduate of Curwensville Area High School and was Roman Catholic by faith.

Surviving are her parents of Curwensville; two daughters, Nicole D. Batts and her husband, Daniel of Claysburg and Lindsay Hardin of Newry; two grandchildren, Jordan Batts and Cassandra Russell; a brother, Kenneth H. Russell and his wife, Linda of Curwensville and her fiancée, Ted Smay of Waynesboro.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville, with Deacon Anthony Indelicato officiating. Friends will be received from 12 p.m. until time of services.

Anna Mae (Smith) Hillman, 88, of Westerville, OH and formerly of Smithmill died Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the home of her daughter, Sandra Gene Brunton, in Westerville, OH.

Mrs. Hillman was born April 15, 1924 at Smithmill, a daughter of the late William M. and Anna H. (Paterson) Smith.

She was a 1942 graduate of the former Madera High School and retired as a test welder from General Electric, Cleveland plant. She also worked at the former Sylvania Plant in Houtzdale and Altoona.

Mrs. Hillman is survived by a daughter, Sandra Gene Brunton and her husband, Denny of Westerville, OH; three grandchildren, Jason Brunton and Alison Brunton, both of Westerville, OH and Katie Brunton of Big Sur, CA, a great-granddaughter, Ember Brunton and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hillman was preceded in death by three sisters, Ellen Lebda and infant sisters, Georgieanna and Ruth Margaret, a brother, William Smith and a niece, Mary Ellen Socoski.

Friends will be received from 12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Kruise Funeral Home Inc. Madera.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Ford officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fruit Hill Cemetery, Ansonville.

Ann Kay Wilson, 56, of Eagle Point, OR and formerly of Philipsburg died Feb. 21, 2013 at the Providence Medical Center in Medford, OR.

She was the daughter of John A. and Kathryn (Poulos) Wilson, who survive of Philipsburg; born May 14, 1956 in Philipsburg.  She is survived by her companion, Bobby Ray Keavenly of Eagle Point, OR.

Ms. Wilson was raised in the Presbyterian faith.  She was employed in the printing industry in Oregon and assisted as a caretaker for her companion’s mother.

She was a 1974 graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School and attended Penn State University in State College.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Richard and Ann (Rowland) Wilson, and maternal grandparents, Vasilios and Paanagiota Liakopoulos.

In addition to her parents and companion, Ms. Wilson is survived by a sister, Wendy Semuskie and her husband, Greg of Gaithersburg, MD and two brothers, Greg A. Wilson and his wife, Christine of Philipsburg and Christopher W. Wilson and his wife, Stacey of Middletown, MD.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. April 19 at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Philipsburg, with the Rev. William R. Walker as celebrant.

Sara Ann Luzier, 70, formerly of Clearfield most recently of Chambersburg died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Falling Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg. She was born May 13, 1942 in Youngstown, OH, the daughter of Alfred John and Sara J. (Jordan) Luzier.

She was a graduate of the Clearfield Area High School in the class of 1960 and the Altoona School of Commerce. She had been a housekeeper for Ned and Katherine Schuck of Clearfield. She retired from Kurtz Bros. after 32 years of service as a data entry clerk. She was member of the Kerr Addition United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and was a Sunday school teacher.

She’s survived by two sons, Adam w. Luzier and his wife, Elizabeth of Chambersburg and Craig L. Luzier and his wife, Karen of Fayetteville, four grandchildren, Samantha Luzier, Benjamin Luzier, Amanda Luzier and Addison Luzier, and six great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are five brothers and two sisters, John E. Luzier and his wife, Marilyn and Alfred Dan Luzier, all of Clearfield, Nancy Gingras and her husband, Richard of Worcester, MA, William R. Luzier and his wife, Linda of Newton, KS, Helen Jane Dixon and her husband, Elroy of Morrisdale and Thomas A. Luzier and his wife, Colleen and Dennis C. Luzier and his wife, Carol, all of West Decatur, a sister-in-law, Joelene Luzier of Clearfield and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Sheridan D. Luzier.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., Clearfield, with the Rev. Mark Brower officiating. Burial will be in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.  Friends will be received from 6 p.m. -8 p.m. Monday and from 12 p.m. until the hour of the services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Raymond C. “Frog” Shimmel, 84, of Bigler and formerly of West Decatur died Friday, April 12, 2013 at Windy Hill Village, P.S.L. in Philipsburg.

He was the son of the late Morris “Tuck” and Iola (Knepp) Shimmel born May 1, 1928 in Boggs Township.

He was married to A. Maxine (Smeal) Stevens Shimmel on April 5, 2003; she survives him at home.  His first wife was Lois A. (Richner) Shimmel, who he married Aug. 27, 1948; she preceded him in death June 2, 2002.

Mr. Shimmel belonged to the Ohio United Methodist Church, (Morgan Run) Osceola Mills. He was a retired Sheet Metal Worker for Tafco in Hyde.

In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Mitchel R. Shimmel and a daughter, Cindy M. Socie.

Along with his wife, Mr. Shimmel is survived by two daughters, Patty Croft and her husband, Larry and Brenda Hampton and her husband, Roy, all of West Decatur; a son, Kevin L. Shimmel and his wife, Traci of State College; and a step-son, Richard Stevens Jr. and his wife, Mary Jayne of Johnson City, TN.

Also surviving are three sisters, Gail Shimmel of Osceola Mills and Lois Jones and Diane Twist and her husband, William, all of Philipsburg; a brother, William Shimmel and his wife, Sandy of Clearfield; five grandchildren, Tia Wisor, Jason Socie, Lyndsay Westwood, Brittany Humes and Belinda Croft; eight great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Ohio United Methodist Church, (Morgan Run) Osceola Mills, with Pastor Donald Smith and Pastor Kathy Leigey officiating.  Burial will be at Baughman Cemetery, (Sanborn) Rural Houtzdale.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Sunday at the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills and from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service Monday at the church.
