Joseph C. Frano, 92, of DuBois died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013 at his home.
Born June 19, 1921, he was the son of the late Wendel and Magdaline (Deko) Frano.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during World War II as an aviation torpedo man.
On Aug. 23, 1947, he married Marjorie I. (Leach) Frano. She survives.
After 40 years of service, he retired from the B&O Railroad where he was a supervisor.
He was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. He was also a member of the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post No. 17, the James J. Patterson Post No. 813 Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Polish Citizens Club and the Olympic Athletic Club. He was a member of the DuBois Country Club for more than 35 years where he was an avid golfer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Amy Jo Butler and her husband, James of Frederick, MD and two grandchildren, Casey and Sean Butler.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Wendel Frano and two sisters, Ann Barr and Hedwig Empress.
A Scriptural Wake service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. 5 p.m. Sunday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A military ritual service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday at the funeral home by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.
Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the church.
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
